Microsoft has released an update for the Dev Home app, but it’s not just any update: it’s about version 0.16, which includes many improvements, fixes to bugs, and some new features that will catch your attention.

First of all, the accessibility upgrades are a victory. The Narrator has been enhanced to help you comprehend the app better, giving you progress bar notifications and loading screen messages when installing apps. It’s not a significant change, but for users who depend on screen readers, this is an important step toward making things more accessible.

Also, you can now directly add external tools to Project Ironsides from the list of your installed apps. This includes .bat, .cmd, .ps1, and .msc files, too.

Moreover, there are improvements in the overall system and virtualization feature settings within Windows customization. The Dev Drive insights folder path is prepopulated now. WSL is an environment type for those working with various environments. Very useful!

Dev Home 0.16 also fixes dozens of bugs, including when the extension was disabled, but its widgets would not disappear from the dashboard. The error that appeared every time someone tried adding a user to the Hyper-V administrators group was also fixed.

You can get the Dev Home 0.16 app fromits GitHub storeor search for it in the Microsoft Store. If you have Windows 11 version 23H2, which is nowwidely available to all Windows users out there, a built-in Dev Home is available when you use it.
