Windows 11 is a great operating system, but many aren’t too pleased with it and are looking for similar alternatives.

Deepin Linux V23 is one of those alternatives, and many users are wondering if it is a good alternative, so in today’s guide, we’re going to answer this question.

Deepin Linux V23, a flawed Windows 11 alternative from China

Many have been looking for a Windows 11 replacement, and we saw several distros, such asWubuntu, that try to emulate the look and feel of Windows.

AsBetaNews reports, we have a new contender in the form of Deepin Linux that has just received its release candidate.

In terms of looks Deepin Linux does resemble Windows 11 with its centered Taskbar, but it’s much closer to the macOS in our opinion.

This version brings a lot of improvements, such as an optimized installer, and the ability to try the software before installing it.

UI has been improved as well, and its launcher and taskbar have been revamped. The new version also allows mouse and keyboard sharing, clipboard sharing, and more.

However, release candite has various issues such as shutdown blocking, application installation errors, and blurry picture on high-resolution screens. Some older bugs, such as taskbar crashes with dual screens haven’t been fixed yet.

Users who have tested it reported issues with recognizing the US International keyboard. It’s worth mentioning that preinstalled applications are available in Chinese which makes the apps harder to use.

A few users were also quick to mention alleged hidden backdoors, but we weren’t able to confirm that.

Even theReddit communityhad to say few things about this distro, thus raising privacy concerns. The following is a quote from Deepin EULA which is concerning:

When you use deepin community to post,reply,send a private message to other users or do other interactive behaviors,we will collect the content (including text,pictures or videos) and your behavior information (ie,Likes,Collections,Comments and Reporting information) to achieve relevant regulatory requirements in various regions.

Others were quick to recommend other distros over Deepin, so to be on the safe side, we’d do the same. The bugs in the release candidate are expected, but the privacy concerns are what put off many users from using Deepin Linux.

If you want a more reliable Linux distro,Mint is somewhat similar to Windows 11, so you might want to give it a try.
