Picture yourself writing fast in a meeting or lecture with your notebook full of handwritten notes. How wonderful would it be if those scribbles could turn into neat digital text by magic? This is now possible for users of OneNote who are part of the Microsoft 365 Insiders program.

A fresh attribute in OneNote for Windows is the ability of the Copilot AI assistant to scrutinize handwritten notes. This could be a turning point for those who appreciate the sensation of pen on paper but desire digital convenience.

Before, Copilot could only show its skills on typed text in OneNote. But admit it, there’s a special charm and adaptability to writing notes by hand. Whether it’s a fast sketch for better understanding or points noted down that comes quicker than your typing pace, this fresh characteristic is here for all.

According to the official blog post, Microsoft has provided two easy methods for activating Copilot in your inked notes in OneNote. Firstly, you may click the Copilot icon in the OneNote app’s ribbon or select and tap on your handwritten notes directly to view what Copilot suggests for summary, rewriting, or a To-Do list from your scribbles.

People who want to experiment with this characteristic can find it on OneNote for Windows Version 2404 (Build 17628.20006) or later. However, there is a condition – currently, only Microsoft 365 Insiders can access Copilot for inked notes in OneNote.

The timing for when all users will get the feature has not been revealed yet; however, given how quickly Microsoft has been including fresh functions in OneNote recently, we can assume this might happen soon enough.

Insiders have witnessed numerous new features in the last few weeks,such as Loop componentsand an interactive ink tutorial. They also introduced a fresh Eyedropper tool, which allows you to personalize pen colors straight from images or notes.
