It’s been a while since Microsoft brought Clipchamp, the video-editing tool,to the 365 suite, but ever since, the Redmond-based tech giant has been updating it with some pretty useful features, including the abilityto automatically clean all long videos.
Now, Microsoft 365 for Education customers, including educational organizations, will be pleased to find out, that the Redmond-based tech giant will be adding CLipchamp to all A3 and A5 licenses, starting in June 2024.
This announcement was published in the latest entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, and according to it, A3 and A5 users will be able to create videos directly in Microsoft 365’s OneDrive and SharePoint.
Here’s whatthe entrysays:
Clipchamp enables rapid editing and creation of videos on OneDrive and SharePoint including features like trim, join, transitions, filters, text overlay, audio controls, screen/camera recording and more. Available via the web or Windows app for Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft 365 A5 SKUs.
It’s kind of a bummer that Microsoft 365 for Education is only introducing A3 and A5 users to Clipchamp now, as the tool can be incredibly useful to those education organizations that don’t need to spend too much budget on other video-editing tools.
Adobe Premiere Pro, for instance, will ask for an annual price ofUS$263.88. According tothe official website, no other apps from the Adobe Creative Suite will be available. The perks are obvious, and the tool has many features that facilitate video editing, but it is by no means oriented toward amateur video editors.
Microsoft Clipchamp, on the other hand, is part of a bigger suite with many other apps, and as part of that suite, it will costUS$396/year(for E3 licenses), andUS$648/year(for E5 licenses). Plus, Clipchamp is far more friendly to students, as the platform is oriented for casual video editors, while still boasting many incredible features, such as the ones mentioned above.
So, for a plan that they’re already paying, education organizations everywhere will now be getting the native video editing tool as well, and there is no point in keeping any other around.
