The engineering samples of Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake-S processors are up for grabs in China. Interestingly, the Arrow Lake-S processors are yet to be official. Therefore, it seems the sale of these pre-release samples is illegal.
Tom’s Hardwarerecently reportedthat Twitter/X user Yuuki_AnSspotted Arrow Lake-S CPU listingin a Sohu post. It seems the Chinese vendor Xianyu somehow got the dumped engineering samples of the Arrow Lake-S processors. And, it eventually started selling them online.
The samples are up for grabs for about 100 CNY (Chinese Yuan) which converts to approx. $14.
hmmm……Does anyone want to buy the CPU of ArrowLake-S LGA1851?(MechSample)—About 100 CNY or $14 each …
The user also shared the image of the alleged Arrow Lake-S engineering sample. One can tell from the image that the ES chip doesn’t mention a model name and mentionsIntel Confidential.
However, there are a few labels on the shared image such asNA, QDF4,andD234. It can be confirmed that it is an older CPU that might have been manufactured more than one and a half years ago.
Users who already got their hands on this engineering sample can’t use it yet. Why? Because the consumer LGA-1851 socket motherboards haven’t launched in the market just yet. That’s not all, there are no specs details reported for the mysterious sample as of now.
Now that reports have surfaced online, it is highly possible that Intel could take some legal action against the vendor as selling their engineering samples or prototypes of any kind is illegal. Therefore, we don’t recommend you to buy it.
Not to forget, Intel could unveil the Arrow Lake CPUs, the company’s next-gen desktop chips, by the end of 2024. However, there’s no official confirmation yet.
