Initially released in February’24, theMemoryfeature inChatGPTallows users to control what information is stored by the chatbot, facilitating seamless conversations and eliminating the need for repetition. Now, OpenAI has expanded access toMemoryto allChatGPT Plussubscribers, except those based in Europe and Korea!

OpenAI announced the expansion in apost on X(formerly Twitter).

Memory is now available to all ChatGPT Plus users. Using Memory is easy: just start a new chat and tell ChatGPT anything you’d like it to remember.Memory can be turned on or off in settings and is not currently available in Europe or Korea. WithMemoryinChatGPT, your interactions with the AI-powered chatbot will be more personalized and natural. On the other hand, if you don’t want ChatGPT to remember a conversation, disablingMemoryis just as easy!

In theofficial blog postpublished in February, OpenAI explains theMemoryfeature as,

Those left out are upset, and rightly so

Those left out are upset, and rightly so

While OpenAI claims to have expanded accessibility of theMemoryfeature to allChatGPT Plussubscribers, that’s not really the case, as those in Europe and Korea are left out, reportedly due to the existing regulations in the regions.

Besides, evenChatGPTTeam and Enterprise subscribers didn’t make the cut. It infuriated them, and many cited their subscription details, which promised early access to new features and improvements.

Many took toXandRedditto express their exasperation over being excluded.

Let’s see whenMemoryis made accessible to allChatGPTsubscribers globally. Our guess is that it would take at least a few more weeks as the AI laws in the region are rather strict when it comes to compliance.

Also, OpenAI confirmed that theMemoryfeature for user-createdGPTswill be released soon!

Earlier this month,ChatGPT eliminated the need for an account, allowing everyone to access the AI-based chatbot.
