Microsoft recently announced that it woulddelay Windows RecallonCopilot + PCssince it received heavy criticism from users and security experts. The feature was supposed to debut on Surface Pro 11 too, however, it won’t happen any time soon. And, guess what? Apple isn’t sparing Microsoft for the Windows Recall blunder.
Apple mocks Microsoft over the failure of Windows Recall
As Windows Central reported, Apple’s global marketing SVP Greg “Joz” Joswiakmocked Microsoft for the Recall PR failureat the recently held WWDC talk. You may think, what exactly did he say? Well, when the host of the talk show asked if Apple was frustrated because Microsoft didn’t succeed in building trust in such features (referring to Windows Recall).
In response, Joswiak laughed and jokedare we frustrated by the failing of our competitors? The answer’s no. Following the response, the talk show was full of laughter from the panelists and the audience. Watch the interaction here:

For the uninitiated, Apple is now a direct competitor of Microsoft in the AI landscape as the Cupertino Giant recently announcedApple Intelligence, Apple’s version of Copilot. Notably, Apple also partnered with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT superpowers to most of its products.
Earlier there were reports thatMicrosoft was worriedabout OpenAI’s potential partnership with Apple. Now that the Apple-OpenAI partnership is public, Microsoft isworking on developing its own AI model. That too, is independent of OpenAI.
Windows Recall has been facing criticism ever since its announcement
Ever sinceMicrosoft announced the Windows Recallfeature at Build 2024, the internet went after it. Security researchers further discovered a range of issues related to the new feature. As you may know, Windows Recall records and screenshots everything you do allowing users to “recall” everything later on.
While the feature sounds good in theory with Microsoft’s constant effort to convey to users that Windows Recall is safe, the backlash continued. The controversy escalated in a manner that even the UK data watchdogstepped in to investigate the feature.
