AMD has been dominating the CPU market with its Ryzen series, and the company shows no signs of slowing down.
New Zen 5 CPUs have been announced, and the new lineup looks extremely promising, so let’s see what’s new.
AMD announces new Ryzen 9000 series of processors
AsThe Verge reports, AMD is planning to launch its Ryzen 9000 series, and the series will include the following models: Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X.
The star of the show is the flagship model, Ryzen 9 9950X, and it comes with the following specs:
According to AMD, we can expect around 16% more instructions per cycle compared to the previous generation. We were expectingAMD Zen 5 to improve gaming performance, and we’re happy that AMD managed to deliver this.
Compared to Intel 14900K CPU, the new Ryzen 9 9950X offers 56% improvement in Blender, and up to 21% in Cinebench 2024.
The same can be said for gaming, and 9950X outperforms Intel by 23% in Horizon Zero Dawn and 4% in Borderlands 3.
Even though this CPU uses the new Zen 5 architecture, it still utilizes AM5 sockets with PCIe Gen 5 and DDR5. This means that AM5 sockets will be present throughout 2027 and maybe even longer.
Here’s what AMD’s Donny Woligroski had to say about the AM5 socket:
It’s the real advantage of having a commitment from your CPU supplier that says we’re in this for the long haul — if you want to upgrade at some time, you don’t have to throw your system away and start from scratch.
As for performance of Zen5, Woligroski stated:
It’s a really impressive difference, and this delivers up to twice the instruction bandwidth, up to twice the data bandwidth, and up to twice the AI performance of the last gen.
As for other models, you can expect the following:
While the pricing remains unknown, the four new CPUs will be launched in July, and we can’t wait to see them in action.
Do keep in mind thatZen 5 CPU architecture won’t support Windows 10, so if you want to use these CPUs, you should consider an upgrade.
