AMD introduces the newRyzen PRO 8040 Series mobile processors and Ryzen PRO 8000 Series desktop processors that will be used to manufacture future Windows AI PCs, Microsoft says in a blog post published earlier today.

According to the announcement, these new processors will be equipped on the upcoming desktop and laptop devices from AMD’s OEMs including Lenovo, and HP, starting with Q2 2024.

Microsoft also says the Windows AI PCs that have these new AMD processors will be faster all around and will deliver great performances in content creation, data, and analytics.

Commercial PCs equipped with new Ryzen AI-enabled processors have the potential to deliver greater performance for AI-enabled collaboration, content creation, data and analytics. With the addition of AMD PRO technologies, IT managers can simplify IT operations and complete PC deployment faster across the organization.

However, Windows users should be excited about the addition of Microsoft Pluton, which is integrated into the AMD Ryzen PRO processors.

For those of you who don’t know, Pluton is a newer security processor capable of protecting and safeguarding user credentials identities, personal data, and encryption keys to the cloud, aside from its standard security protocols. Some view itas superior to the existing TPM, and it will most likely replace it in the following years.

Alongside Microsoft Pluton, AMD will also include Microsoft Copilot in the new processors, allowing users to access the AI model for different tasks. This shouldn’t be a surprise, though: the future Windows AI PCs are all about AI, and Copilot has been an integral part of it for a while. Plus, the new Copilot key, unveiled earlier this year, is a testament to the rising popularity of AI technology in computing processing.

Either way, the new processors are quite capable. For instance,AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 8945HShas 8 cores, 16 threads, 24MB of cache, and Radeon 780M graphics, which make it suitable for demanding content creation workloads.

TheAMD Ryzen 8000will be released with the AMD Ryzen AI, which can be used to enhance productivity all around.

Below, you have a complete list of all the new Ryzen PRO 8040 Series mobile processors and Ryzen PRO 8000 Series desktop processors.
